Lady Elizabeth Azimuth Thruster Repairs for Southern Marine Shiplift
On November 25 2001 Glasgow Engineering were contracted to supply labour to Southern Marine Ship Lift for the docking of the Lady Elizabeth.
This routine docking required staff from Glasgow Engineering, to overhaul the sea valves, bow thrusters and azimuth thrusters plus associated fabrication and welding work. Working alongside a representative from Rolls Royce it was discovered that a large amount of wear had occurred in the azimuth thruster housing. Using a piano wire to set up from, the job of line boring the housing was undertaken and a sleeve shrunk in position.
