Hiawatha
Hiawatha
Location: York Street, Launceston
Scope: Hiawatha’ was built in 1873. The two-storey, solid brick home has been skillfully renovated, keeping the modern family’s needs in mind while maintaining the integrity and all that is wonderful about a house of this era.
The ground floor contains most of the home’s living areas and can be accessed by an internal staircase at the back door or from the beautiful stone external steps. There is a space for everyone to enjoy the cosy sitting/reading room and the lounge and dining rooms. A Cheminees Philippe Radiante 700 fire place will warm you in the colder months, and then throw open the French doors in the summer to enjoy the cooling breeze.
Hiawatha’s kitchen is built around a huge granite island bench. There is a vast amount of storage and pantry space, a window seat for lounging, and a computer nook. The jewel in the crown is the four-oven shiny black Aga 4 oven natural gas cooker.
